The Education User Conference (EdUC) is dedicated to broadening horizons for educators by illustrating the power of geographic information system (GIS) technology in a variety of disciplines. Both beginning and advanced GIS users in administration, education, research, libraries, and museums will see how GIS software opens up new opportunities and enhances education across the campus.

Throughout the conference, you will learn how to start or grow GIS activities and programs within your field. An active forum for the education community, the EdUC also gives you a chance to share your knowledge and experiences with your peers. Also, the conference is held next door to the 2008 ESRI User Conference (ESRI UC); EdUC registration includes attendance to the first two days of activities at the ESRI UC.

What You'll Experience

  • Take a test drive
Find out how GIS is used—from the classroom to the laboratory to the office—and try it out yourself in the hands-on computer labs.
  • Freshen your approach
Discover new teaching materials, from lessons and books to customized products and programs. Easily integrate GIS into your pedagogy.
  • Use GIS right away
Learn the best ways to apply geotechnologies in your discipline, empowering you with ideas and tools you can put use immediately. Brainstorm and discuss project ideas with the ESRI Education Team and training staff.
  • Network with colleagues
Meet with fellow educators and GIS professionals from your own backyard or across the globe during user presentations, special interest group (SIG) meetings, and informal gatherings.
  • Troubleshoot technology problems
Bring your questions about GIS software, data, and implementation to ESRI staff for a one-on-one discussion.
  • Pinpoint research needs
Discuss the effectiveness of GIS at all levels, from spatial thinking to advanced statistical analysis, and explore possible research areas that need attention.
  • Hear from Jack
ESRI President Jack Dangermond and a team of experts will share trends in the GIS and IT industries. Realize how these trends might affect your work.
  • Be inspired by the latest possibilities
Through demonstrations, paper sessions, workshops, and the EdUC EXPO, you’ll learn what’s new and how you can be a part of it.
