Landscape Change in Connecticut

Connecticut's Changing Landscape

University of Connecticut's Changing Landscape

Center for Land Use Education and Research (CLEAR)

The land cover change portion of Connecticut's Changing Landscape provides basic information about the growth of developed land during the period 1985 to 2002. Four directly comparable land cover datasets, from 1985, 1990, 1995 and 2002, allow users, for the first time, to visualize and quantify, landscape change in Connecticut.

Putting data into the hands of users

  • Data downloaded by over 200 individuals and organizations
  • Helping to drive changes to the Connecticut Conservation & Development Policies Plan 2004 – 2009
  • Being used by Connecticut Regional Planning Organizations to educate municipalities about sprawl and alternatives
  • Proving the value and use of Landsat imagery at the state, regional and local levels of government
