NGTEN Switches to Plone!

The NGTEN website is now running on an open-source content management system: Plone. Coming soon: How to use Plone.

Dear Geospatial Extension Specialists,

Your portal is now open! Welcome to your content management system. As Domain Name Servers (DNS) across the country begin clearing their caches, your requests for www.geospatialextension.org will start arriving at our new Plone server.

Use the same login and password you used for the previous "Internal" homepage, and you will be able to access your folder to start sharing. Be sure to keep your eye out for a tutorial video next week!

What is Plone?
Plone is an open-source content management system that gives users tremendous flexibility in creating, uploading, searching, and publishing content, all through your web browser. It runs on a web framework named Zope, which is written in the Python programming language.

This has all been installed on a Linux server, which will be handling your requests from now. Also be sure to keep your eye out for an online presentation on what Plone and Zope are, and why we chose to pursue these new technologies.

Enjoy, and check the Help Desk to leave any comments or questions!
